LAGOS, NIGERIA — The African Democratic Congress (ADC) today officially flagged off its Lagos East Senatorial Campaign, bringing together party leaders, candidates, grassroots coordinators, women leaders, stakeholders and party faithful in a major political engagement across the district.
The event marked a significant milestone in the party’s preparations for the forthcoming elections, with stakeholders from Ikorodu, Kosofe, Somolu, Ibeju-Lekki and Epe converging to strengthen the party’s grassroots structure and campaign coordination.
The gathering featured strong participation from ADC supporters, many of whom appeared in distinctive party colours and branded attire, reflecting the growing mobilisation around the party’s Lagos East Senatorial campaign.
Among those present was Hon. Balogun Rotimi Olatubosun (B.R.O.), who, after the event, spoke with members of the press on the significance of the flag-off and the importance of sustained grassroots engagement.
OLATUBOSUN: GRASSROOTS ENGAGEMENT IS KEY
Speaking to journalists, Hon. Balogun Rotimi Olatubosun emphasised the importance of taking political engagement directly to the people and ensuring that citizens are adequately informed about the candidates, programmes and vision of the party.
“What you are witnessing today is a demonstration of the commitment of the African Democratic Congress to grassroots engagement. Politics is about the people, and we must constantly engage with them, listen to their concerns and understand their expectations.”
Olatubosun noted that the strength of any political organisation depends largely on its ability to establish a strong connection with communities at the grassroots.
“Our coordinators, women leaders, ward leaders and other stakeholders have a very important responsibility. They are closest to the people, and they understand the issues affecting their communities. We must empower them to take the message of credible representation and responsible leadership to every ward.”
He also stressed the importance of unity, discipline and coordinated efforts among party members as the campaign progresses.
“There is a need for unity, discipline and coordinated efforts. We should focus on the issues that matter to our people and present our candidates and programmes clearly. Our engagement must be peaceful, respectful and centred on the aspirations of the electorate.”
ADC LAGOS EAST SENATORIAL CANDIDATES TAKE CENTRE STAGE
The flag-off also provided an opportunity for the ADC Lagos East Senatorial candidates to be presented before party stakeholders and supporters as the campaign officially gets underway.
Campaign materials at the venue prominently featured the Lagos East Campaign Movement and the slogan:
“FOR A GREATER LAGOS EAST, FOR A GREATER NIGERIA.”
The campaign also highlighted Juliet Isede (ADC) and Balogun Waris Dare as part of the party’s Lagos East Senatorial candidates.
WOMEN LEADERS AND GRASSROOTS COORDINATORS MOBILISE
The ADC women’s wing recorded a strong presence at the event, with women leaders actively participating in the proceedings and grassroots mobilisation efforts.
Party stakeholders underscored the importance of women leaders, ward coordinators and community organisers in strengthening voter outreach and ensuring that the party’s message reaches communities across the Senatorial District.
The stakeholders were encouraged to maintain effective ward-level coordination, peaceful engagement and consistent interaction with the electorate throughout the campaign period.
Today’s flag-off marks the beginning of an intensified political engagement by the ADC across Lagos East as the party seeks to deepen its grassroots presence and present its candidates and programmes to the electorate.
With the campaign now officially underway, attention turns to sustained community engagement across Ikorodu, Kosofe, Somolu, Ibeju-Lekki and Epe.
