The Commandant General (CGC) of Kindness Guild Nigeria (KGN), Prince Dr. Yomi Otukoya, has charged the Oyo State Command to embrace a higher level of professionalism, visibility, community service and strategic engagement as the organisation continues to strengthen its presence and impact across the state.
Prince Dr. Yomi Otukoya gave the charge during a strategic briefing with members of the Oyo State Command ahead of an official photo session designed to document the command and strengthen its visibility on KGN’s digital platforms.
Addressing the members, the CGC emphasised that the strength of KGN must not be measured merely by uniforms, titles or membership numbers, but by the positive impact its members make in the lives of people and communities.
He encouraged the Oyo State Command to identify practical needs within their communities and respond through meaningful interventions. From supporting hospitals with essential materials to participating in environmental sanitation, traffic assistance, crowd management and other lawful community-safety initiatives, members were urged to make service the foundation of their public identity.
According to the CGC, whenever members go into their communities to serve, such activities should be properly documented and communicated. He noted that effective publicity helps the public understand the identity, mission and value of the organisation.
Strategic Partnerships and Community Engagement
Prince Dr. Yomi Otukoya challenged the Oyo State Command to develop strategic relationships with government agencies, security institutions and other relevant stakeholders.
He cited potential collaboration with agencies such as the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and encouraged members to prepare professionally written proposals capable of demonstrating how KGN can contribute to community safety, emergency response and other areas of public service.
He also directed members to embark on official courtesy visits to relevant government officials and stakeholders in Oyo State.
The objective, he explained, is to ensure that KGN becomes recognised as a responsible organisation actively contributing to the development, safety and wellbeing of communities across the state.
Proposed Engagement with Sunday Igboho and Amotekun
Another significant issue discussed was the proposed courtesy visit to Sunday Igboho, subject to funding and necessary arrangements.
The proposed engagement is expected to include the presentation of an award as a Kindness Ambassador, alongside proposed recognition as a Rescue Marshal and Grand Marshal.
Prince Dr. Yomi Otukoya explained that beyond the proposed honours, the visit would provide an opportunity to present a broader capacity-building initiative focused on emergency response and community safety.
Under the proposal, KGN’s Rescue Academy would seek opportunities to train Amotekun personnel in areas that complement their existing paramilitary responsibilities.
The proposed training modules include emergency response, safety procedures, basic resuscitation, first-response principles, handling emergencies involving collapse or fainting, emergency-team coordination and community-based safety.
The broader vision is to strengthen community policing by equipping personnel with additional practical skills that can help them respond appropriately to emergencies within the communities they serve.
Training, Certification and Sustainability
The briefing also addressed a proposed training identification and certification system.
Participants in the proposed Rescue Academy programme would receive a Training ID, while a suggested ₦3,000 certificate fee was discussed as a means of encouraging commitment and seriousness among participants.
The proposed model is intended to support the sustainability of the training programme, particularly where trainers may have to travel from different states to conduct specialised sessions.
The CGC also discussed the potential scale of such a programme, using hypothetical participation figures to demonstrate how a well-structured training initiative could generate resources that may subsequently support organisational development and empowerment.
Empowering KGN Members
Prince Dr. Yomi Otukoya stressed that KGN must also look inward by developing an internal empowerment programme for members.
He challenged the Oyo State Command to gather information about members’ skills, businesses, vocational interests and areas where they require support.
The proposed empowerment programme would identify members interested in learning trades, developing businesses and establishing sustainable sources of livelihood.
The objective is to create opportunities that enable members to become more economically productive while strengthening the organisation from within.
Expanding KGN Across Oyo State
The Oyo State Command was further challenged to expand its activities across all Local Government Areas in the state.
The CGC encouraged members to embrace leadership responsibilities by establishing units and developing community-level structures that can take KGN’s message and activities to more people.
He reminded members that leadership is not simply a position but a responsibility to educate, guide and empower those working under them.
Professionalism, Confidence and Command Presence
One of the strongest messages from the briefing was the need for members to develop a professional command presence.
Prince Dr. Yomi Otukoya urged members to dress smartly, maintain proper posture and communicate with confidence whenever they represent KGN before government officials, traditional leaders, security commanders and other stakeholders.
He emphasised that confidence must always be accompanied by courtesy, respect and discipline.
Members were encouraged to stand upright, maintain appropriate eye contact, speak clearly and authoritatively, and ensure that their conduct reflects the values and discipline expected of an organised institution.
KGN’s Wider National and International Outlook
The CGC also highlighted the broader structure and development of KGN and its associated Rescue Corps initiatives, noting the importance of strong organisational structures, national representation and international engagement.
He encouraged members to recognise the opportunities that come with belonging to a structured organisation and to approach their responsibilities with seriousness.
The CGC urged members to see their service not merely as voluntary activity but as an opportunity for personal development, leadership growth and meaningful contribution to society.
Official Photo Session
Following the strategic briefing, members of the KGN Oyo State Command proceeded to the official photo session.
The session was organised to create professional visual records of the command and strengthen its representation on KGN’s website and other digital platforms.
The photographs also symbolised a new chapter for the Oyo State Command—one defined by visibility, responsibility, service and renewed commitment.
The engagement concluded with members expressing appreciation to the CGC, followed by the official photography session.
Conclusion
The engagement between KGN Commandant General Prince Dr. Yomi Otukoya and the Oyo State Command was more than an ordinary briefing; it was a call to action.
The message was unmistakable: Kindness must be seen, service must be felt, leadership must be demonstrated, and professionalism must define every representation of KGN.
With stronger community engagement, strategic partnerships, internal empowerment, professional communication and deliberate expansion across Oyo State, the command has been challenged to transform its potential into measurable impact.
