Nigeria’s greatest resource is not buried beneath its soil.
It is not found only in its oil reserves, mineral deposits or physical infrastructure.
Nigeria’s greatest resource is its people—and particularly its young people.
This is the conviction of Hon. Dr. Balogun Rotimi Olatubosun, candidate for the Ikorodu Federal Constituency under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), who believes that the future of Nigeria depends largely on how the country educates, empowers and engages its youth.
For Dr. Olatubosun, youth empowerment should not be treated as a political slogan or an occasional gesture during election seasons.
It should be a national development strategy.
“If we want a peaceful Nigeria, we must create a hopeful Nigeria. A young person with skills, opportunity and purpose is less vulnerable to those who seek to recruit him into violence.”
EMPOWERMENT IS MORE THAN DISTRIBUTING ITEMS
Dr. Olatubosun argues that genuine empowerment must go beyond the distribution of temporary relief materials.
Young people need sustainable opportunities.
A graduate needs access to employment or entrepreneurial opportunities.
An artisan needs tools and market access.
A farmer needs financing, modern technology and access to value chains.
A young creative needs training, equipment and platforms.
A technology enthusiast needs digital infrastructure and opportunities to innovate.
This is the difference between political gestures and genuine empowerment.
INVESTING IN SKILLS AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Dr. Olatubosun believes Nigeria should prioritise technical and vocational education, entrepreneurship, digital skills, agriculture, creative industries and apprenticeship opportunities.
He advocates greater investment in:
Vocational and technical education
Digital and technology training
Youth entrepreneurship
Agriculture and agro-business
Creative industries
Sports development
Apprenticeship programmes
Mentorship and leadership development
Access to affordable financing
Youth participation in governance
The objective should be to move young Nigerians from dependency to productivity.
IKORODU AS A CONSTITUENCY, NIGERIA AS A RESPONSIBILITY
Although Dr. Olatubosun is seeking to represent Ikorodu Federal Constituency, his vision extends beyond constituency boundaries.
He believes a Federal Representative should understand that issues affecting one constituency can be connected to national challenges.
Youth unemployment, insecurity, education, skills development, economic opportunity and community development require policy responses that go beyond individual communities.
His vision is therefore built around the belief that effective representation begins locally but must think nationally.
A NEW KIND OF POLITICS
Dr. Olatubosun is calling for a political culture where young people are treated as partners in governance rather than political foot soldiers.
Politics, he believes, must move away from intimidation and personality battles and toward ideas, competence, accountability and measurable development.
“Nigeria does not need politics that divides our young people. We need politics that gives them a future.”
THE YOUTH MUST HAVE A VOICE
Young Nigerians should not only be invited to political rallies.
They should be part of policy conversations.
They should be encouraged to participate in governance, community development and decision-making.
They should be supported to become entrepreneurs, professionals, innovators, public servants and responsible political leaders.
The country cannot continue to tell young people that they are “leaders of tomorrow” while denying them meaningful opportunities to prepare for and participate in leadership today.
BUILDING A SAFER NIGERIA THROUGH OPPORTUNITY
According to Dr. Olatubosun, security and economic development are interconnected.
A country that creates opportunities for its youth strengthens its social stability.
A country that ignores them creates room for desperation, exploitation and criminal recruitment.
This is why youth empowerment should be viewed not simply as an economic programme but also as part of a broader national security strategy.
A MESSAGE OF HOPE
Dr. Olatubosun’s message to Nigerian youths is one of hope and responsibility:
“Do not allow your circumstances to define your destiny. Learn. Build. Create. Innovate. Become useful to yourself, your family and your community. Nigeria needs your energy, your ideas and your courage.”
He believes the Nigerian youth can become the engine of a new national transformation if given the right environment.
The country must therefore invest in education.
Invest in skills.
Invest in enterprise.
Invest in innovation.
And above all, invest in people.
THE NIGERIA WE DESERVE
The Nigeria of the future cannot be built through violence, fear or political manipulation.
It must be built through competent leadership, responsible citizenship, economic opportunity, strong institutions and an empowered population.
For Hon. Dr. Balogun Rotimi Olatubosun, seeking the mandate to represent Ikorodu Federal Constituency under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is not simply about occupying a political office.
It is about advocating for a constituency while contributing to a larger national conversation.
His vision is one where:
Young people have opportunities.
Families have hope.
Businesses can grow.
Communities are secure.
Institutions are respected.
Leadership is accountable.
And Nigeria’s enormous human potential is fully harnessed.
The message is clear:
“Let us stop preparing our young people merely for survival and start preparing them for leadership. Let us replace hopelessness with opportunity, violence with productivity and political manipulation with meaningful participation.”
Nigeria has the people.
Nigeria has the talent.
Nigeria has the potential.
What Nigeria needs is purposeful leadership and the courage to turn that potential into progress.
