LAGOS, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2026 — The KGN Rescue Corps, an intervention arm of Kindness Guild Nigeria (KGN), today commemorates its sixth anniversary, marking six years since its inauguration and celebrating a journey of humanitarian service, community intervention, environmental responsibility and commitment to the preservation of lives.
Conceived in 2015 and formally established during the COVID-19 global lockdown in 2020, KGN Rescue Corps was created as a voluntary intervention paramilitary organisation dedicated to serving humanity and supporting communities.
Over the past six years, the organisation has continued to develop its humanitarian and community-focused activities, working with the Nigerian Legion and families of members of the Armed Forces, while undertaking initiatives aimed at adding value to individuals and communities.
The Corps has also developed a vibrant network of Rescue Corps personnel and Kindness Cadets, with the broader objective of developing community-based capacity and preparing young people for responsible citizenship and community service.
According to the organisation, its vision continues to evolve toward strengthening community values and capacity development, particularly in the context of emerging approaches to state and community policing.
At the heart of KGN’s humanitarian philosophy are the values of love and kindness, which the organisation identifies as its major tools in promoting a more compassionate society.
GCG Charges Officers on Greater Proactiveness
As the organisation marks the milestone, the GCG, Guild Commandant General, Prince Dr. Yomi Otukoya, has congratulated officers and members of KGN Rescue Corps nationwide while charging them to approach the next phase of the organisation’s journey with renewed dedication, professionalism and a stronger sense of responsibility.
The Guild Commandant General emphasised the need for members to become more proactive, alert and responsive, stressing that effective humanitarian service requires personnel who are prepared to identify emerging challenges, respond appropriately and take responsible action before situations escalate.
He further called on officers to uphold discipline, teamwork and integrity in the discharge of their responsibilities, noting that the reputation, credibility and effectiveness of the organisation depend significantly on the conduct, preparedness and commitment of its personnel.
In his anniversary message, Prince Dr. Yomi Otukoya said:
“As we celebrate six years of KGN Rescue Corps, I commend every officer, volunteer, leader and partner who has contributed to the progress of the organisation. This anniversary is both a celebration of our journey and a reminder of the responsibilities that lie ahead.
“I charge all our officers and personnel to be more proactive, more disciplined and more responsive in the discharge of their duties. We must not wait until challenges become emergencies before we act. We must remain observant, prepared and willing to take responsible steps that can protect lives and support our communities.
“The next chapter must be characterised by greater professionalism, improved capacity, stronger teamwork and a renewed commitment to our humanitarian mandate. Every member has a role to play in strengthening this organisation and ensuring that KGN Rescue Corps continues to earn the confidence of the communities we serve.
“I therefore urge every officer to see his or her position not simply as a title, but as a responsibility and a call to service. Together, we must build an organisation that is more responsive, better prepared, professionally coordinated and firmly committed to humanity.”
Building Capacity for the Future
The sixth anniversary also highlights the organisation’s continuing effort to develop a structured corps of personnel and young cadets capable of contributing positively to their communities.
Through the Kindness Cadets initiative, KGN seeks to encourage values of discipline, service, compassion and responsible citizenship among younger members of society, while its Rescue Corps provides a platform for voluntary intervention and community-oriented service.
The organisation’s journey reflects an evolving commitment to community capacity-building and humanitarian intervention, with its stated mission centred on making a positive contribution to Nigerian society.
Six Years of Service and a Renewed Commitment
The sixth anniversary goes beyond celebration; it represents the beginning of another phase in which KGN Rescue Corps will continue to strengthen its organisational capacity and deepen its commitment to humanitarian service.
As the organisation moves forward, greater emphasis will be placed on professional development, preparedness, effective coordination, community engagement, strategic partnerships and responsive humanitarian intervention.
The anniversary is also an opportunity to recognise the contributions of the organisation’s gallant officers nationwide, whose voluntary service continues to form an important part of KGN Rescue Corps’ operations.
Six years after its inauguration, KGN Rescue Corps looks ahead with a renewed determination to strengthen its structures, empower its personnel and expand its contribution to communities across Nigeria.
The organisation’s anniversary message is clear: its doors remain open to individuals and families who wish to participate in its culture of service and kindness.
Six Years of Service.
Six Years of Courage.
Six Years of Commitment.
Six Years of Inspiring a Kinder Nation.
Congratulations to all gallant officers of KGN Rescue Corps nationwide on this significant milestone.
